Password generator FAQ

A few practical answers about creating and using strong passwords.

Is RAPAGEN safe to use?

RAPAGEN creates passwords on your device using your browser's cryptographically secure random-number generator. The generated password is not sent to RAPAGEN's server. As with any password tool, use a trusted device and keep your browser up to date.

How long should a strong password be?

Longer, unique passwords are generally harder to guess. RAPAGEN starts at 20 characters. Where a service allows it, a long random password is a sensible choice; use a reputable password manager to keep track of it.

Does RAPAGEN store or transmit my passwords?

No. Generated passwords stay in your browser unless you choose to copy or otherwise share them. RAPAGEN saves only generator preferences and your theme choice locally. A copied password may remain in your device's clipboard until it is replaced or cleared.

What does “bits of entropy” mean?

Entropy is an estimate of how difficult a randomly generated password is to guess. Higher numbers generally mean more possible combinations. RAPAGEN's displayed figure is an approximation based on password length and the selected character pool, not a guarantee of security.

Should I use a different password for every account?

Yes. Unique passwords prevent a password exposed at one service from unlocking your other accounts. Enable multi-factor authentication wherever it is available.

Why might a website reject my generated password?

Some services restrict password length or allowed symbols. Adjust RAPAGEN's length and character options to match the site's rules, while keeping the password as long and unpredictable as possible.
